Can’t Deal with New Year’s Resolutions Right Now? Try Not Setting One!
I’m going to go out on a limb here and suggest that after two years of uncertainty, there might be people out there for whom setting a new years resolution might be a bit of stretch right now – and that is perfectly fine.
But rather than letting the opportunity of a fresh start pass by without any real thought, I’m here to suggest an alternative.
Rather than setting an abstract resolution that will be annoying you and making you feel horribly guilty by February, set an intention instead. An intention is less about specific goals and more about a shift in mindset that will get you closer to who you want to be.
Decide on something you want to focus on and set an intention for it. It might be about how you approach things, where you want to focus your time, what you want to bring to a certain situation or what (or who) you want to prioritise. Make it something that you’ll easily remember daily until it becomes a way of life.
And for those who like setting hard and fast goals – we’ve got you covered with more tips over the coming weeks 😊.
